Pageant is the classic composition from well-known composer Vincent Persichetti. Premiered in 1953, Pageant is a symphonic overture which features a slow, homophonic section followed by a lively ""Parade"" section. It has long been a staple in the repertoire of high school bands everywhere. Persichetti's third band work is a two-movement exposition in different styles. The opening statement in the horns underpins a slow chordal movement, in which phrases are passed among different groups of instruments. A snare drum announces the beginning of the second movement, a polytonal parade. Newly engraved and thoroughly edited for the first time.
